Adele - A Brief History
International recording artiste and world wide celebrity singing star Adele Adkins MBE was born in North London in 1988, and spent much of her childhood living between London and Brighton.
An attendee of the Brit School for the Arts, she graduated in 2006 and has since become a worldwide star.
She wrote her first record at the tender age of just 16, influenced by her early life and experiences, the song ‘Hometown Glory’ went on to be big hit for the singer/songwriter.
Adele’s first album was released in 2008 and was titled ‘19’, the album was instantly well received and an immediate success. It earned her awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
She recorded her follow up and second album in 2011, the album was called ‘21’ and was another big success for the young artist. The album sold more than 31 million copies and earned Adele huge international recognition and more accolades.
She was invited to write and record the theme song to the 2012 Bond film ‘Skyfall’ the song earned her a Grammy Award, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for best original song.
Adele’s third album was released in 2015 and called ‘25’, the album was the best-selling album of 2015 and smashed ‘first-week’ sales records both in the USA and UK . The lead song “Hello” was the very first song ever to sell more than one million digital copies in just one week!
